School is out and summer has officially begun at St. Lawrence County Libraries! This year, our Collaborative Summer Reading Program theme is “Libraries Rock” and our county libraries have special programs and events geared for children of all ages.
Each library has its own calendar of activities which may be found at the library, on the library’s website, or the library’s Facebook page. Here are some highlights:
The Canton Free Library program runs from July 10th through August 2nd and includes age-appropriate storytime activities, storytellers, music, a pet show, and a visit from Daniel Tiger.
The Gouverneur Library is hosting a Ninja Day on July 22nd and a musical activity on August 17th.
The Hepburn Library of Lisbon is hosting programs at the library and Lisbon Beach throughout the month of July. Activities include self-directed makerspace projects for kids in grades K-6. Other programs include storytime for toddlers and preschoolers along with craft projects, board games, and Lego days for tweens.
The Hepburn Library of Madrid is hosting a Summer Reading Club for children in grades PreK-6 with an End of Summer Celebration of August 24th. Programs begin July 16th and run through August 24th.
The Morristown Public Library will be offering programs for all ages on Tuesdays from July 10th through August 7th.
The Hepburn Library of Norfolk is hosting programs for toddlers through tweens from July 23th through July 27th. Activities include stores, crafts, scavenger hunts, snacks, and much more.
The Ogdensburg Public Library is offering prizes and raffles featuring a variety of musical instruments for children and teens who fill up their reading worksheets.
The Norwood Public Library is offering a Read-at Home program where participants track their reading at home to earn prize books. The library will also be hosting storytime at the library’s gazebo and at the beach throughout July and August. Art projects and a pajama storytime are also part of the festivities.
The Massena Public Library offers programs from July 2nd through August 10th. Activities include independent reading, storytime, Lego Club, crafts, games, magicians, music, and a beach party. Activities are at the main Massena library and the branch in Brasher Falls.
The Hepburn Library of Waddington is collaborating with the Waddington Beach morning recreation program on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays from July 2md through July 26th. Activities are geared for children in grades 1-6.
Please contact individual libraries for more information, including specific dates and times for all activities. Many programs require pre-registration due to limited facility space, or to ensure that library staff have sufficient supplies available for projects and crafts. While visiting your local library, be sure to check out what else they have to offer – it’s the perfect time to get a library card, borrow an exciting new book, and experience everything that makes Libraries Rock!
